As everyone knows, Taiwan is a beautiful island located
in Eastern Asia. Taiwan is famous for its delicious food, especially for “Night Markets” in the city,
where you can find all kinds of different food at night.
Taiwan is also famous for its physiognomy. It is an island with many high
mountains, especially its highest
mountain (3952 meters) in
Eastern-North Asia, named Yushan.
Sounds like a good place for
traveling, doesn’t it? But do you know how to plan a trip to Taiwan? Below, we will talk about how
to plan a trip to Taiwan,
so don’t worry!
1. Get a Passport and a Taiwanese Visa. Set your budget for this trip.
2. Check the weather to select your ideal season to travel. Taiwan is an country which has half
tropical and half subtropical weather. There are four seasons in the Taiwanese year. The season you choose
to travel should depend on what activities you would like to do, so choose the most suitable weather for your
activities.
3. Confirm your vocation time and book your ticket. You can
use the website “skyscanner” (http://www.skyscanner.ca/) to find cheap tickets.
The price changes frequently. Usually booking tickets on Wednesday is cheaper
than other days.
4. Think about what you
are the most interested in. Do you want a “Natural Life Trip”, “City Life Trip”, or “Food
Trip”? For example: if you love natural adventures, there are many trails, beaches, and national parks in Taiwan; if you love
the city life, you can enjoy museums, shopping malls, or find some awesome city
views in Taipei, Taichung, and Kaohsiung; or if you like to eat delicious food,
there are many night markets or
special foods in different cities. Do
some research on the web and focus on the places you want to go. You can use google maps to
search for interesting places, and put a star on it. You can download maps of the areas you are interested in on Google maps. This way you can check the maps even when you
are offline.
5. When you finished researching and marking the stars on Google map,
you can look over the Google map to decide which cities you will visit and
which areas you want to stay in. Then you can book the hotels. There are
many websites where you can make a hotel/hostel reservation. There are some
websites I use frequently: Airbnb (http://www.airbnb.ca), Couch
Surfing (https://www.couchsurfing.com), Agoda (http://www.agoda.com) , HiHostel (www.hihostels.com).
Before you book the room, make sure you read reviews of the place on
the page, especially when you use Airbnb and CouchSurfing. Many people think that
Airbnb and CouchSurfing are very dangerous, but if you can read the host’s
profile and look
at others references carefully, you can safely enjoy your stay with local people.
6. Transportation: If you want to rent a car. Don’t forget to
get an international driver’s license. There are the THSR (Taiwan High Speed
Rail), the TRA (Taiwan Railways Administration), the MTR (MASS Transit Railway)
and buses in Taiwan. Make sure there will be transportation in the cities you
will stay in.
7. In a list from 1-5, arrange your plan details and list it.
Check the rundown of your plan, list important information on the same page, for
example: the hotel’s address and telephone number; where to buy the cheapest tickets
and the ticket’s price.
8. If you are the kind of person who
needs internet every moment. You can rent a portable WiFi AP in the airport.
Most of the coffee shops and hotels usually have free WiFi. It’s easy to access
the internet in Taiwan.
9. Packing your luggage. List the things you want to bring and
think about if you really need those things on your trip. Don’t bring too many things
with you so that you can bring back more memories with you. Keeping your luggage light
will also let you
move more easily. It is very convenient and cheap to buy
everything in Taiwan.
10. There are two common languages used in Taiwan: Mandarin and
Taiwanese. It
is good to know that most of young people can speak English. Even though older people cannot
speak English; they will use their body language to communicate with you.
People in Taiwan are very friendly, and almost all areas are very safe.
After that, you are
ready to travel in Taiwan. It’s very easy, right? Now, please turn on your computer, and follow the step to plan
a trip to Taiwan.
